Gizmo’s and Gadgets

Windows Home Server might be one of those things that you didn’t know you needed until you experienced it (like TiVo).

Things that I would love about it :

1.  Storage : one terabyte of networked storage that I can use from any computer in my home.

2. Safety : automatic backup.  Every computer on my network could be automatically backed up. Schedule it using incremental and once the first backup is done everything else is pretty easy.

3. Remote access : I access my server from my network or from anywhere in the world using a Microsoft free URL mapped to my server.  I could remotely access and control any computer on the network .

4. Streaming media :  WHS becomes a true media server .

5. The platform : built on Windows Sever 2003 .  There’s also the SDK you could use to develop your very own server applications.
