Google Phone Rumors Not True
Oct 8th, 2007 by MuZumbu
For a while now there have been rumors around the internet that Google is preparing to launch a new product, something that will compete with Apple’s iPhone. According to the New York Times, Google does not tend to go into the phone market but in the Mobile OS one. They will not create a phone they say. Even if the net was filled with images of what it could look like this might seem a little like a marketing campaign from Google.
In short, Google is not creating a gadget to rival the iPhone, but rather creating software that will be an alternative to Windows Mobile from Microsoft and other operating systems, which are built into phones sold by many manufacturers. And unlike Microsoft, Google is not expected to charge phone makers a licensing fee for the software.
