Nokia N97

Nokia finally outdid itself with their latest phone Nokia N97. At the age where Blackberry’s and i-phones dominate the handheld world, it is hard to compete. However, this new phone is much more than a regular phone, it’s an entire micro-computer that has all of the best features of previous Nokia phones ever made, combined with the smart-phone approach. It’s delicate design and modern look go hand in hand with the latest features and apps. One can browse the internet, check facebook messages, check email, play games, listen to music, and much more. And of course to facilitate the human-handheld interaction, the full QWERTY keyboard is essential. Overall, new Nokia N97 is a smart phone worthy of its competition.

Other than the teenage, female demographic, I’m not quite sure who would want a gold-plated cellphone, or go through the trouble of sticking a bunch of little plastic squares all over it. The idea is that one could customize their phone on a whim, but it seems like doing so would be tedious. It’s a good idea in theory, I guess. But so were MySpace’s customizable pages. And we all know how that turned out.

The $200 LG VX8800 Venus from Verizon Wireless may be the Voyager’s little sister, but it’s closest in form and function to the ill-fated Chocolate. Unlike the Voyager, which has a QWERTY keyboards and aspirations to be an e-mail and messaging hub, the Venus is a “music phone” with a cool camera feature. Though slightly bulkier than even the current slimmed-down Chocolate, it’s one of LG’s best looking phones to date, though it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who would be happiest toting around one of these shiny little girly-named bricks.

p04111107.jpg

This is what is shown  on Nokia’s latest website. A count down. To what you may wonder ? I have no idea, but it seems the people over at Nokia are preparing for something big. The only clue is a small N series emblem, that makes me wonder if this is about the waited N82 with a 5MP camera. Time will tell.
