If you own a laptop that you know that laptop batteries have the shortest warranty, about 6 months on most producers. And if your not very careful about how you use your laptop the probability of turning it into a desktop are pretty high. That is my case. After one year of service, my HP laptop is starting to turn into that. It’s my own fault I did not take care of it and my hp battery is starting to fail on me.
So what do you do when that time happens ? Some would say to get a new laptop. I suggest that if you’re happy with it just replace the battery. This can be done in two ways that I can think of. One, contact your local hardware dealer and order a new part. And than wait for it a couple of weeks, since nobody has it in the warehouse. Or, two, find an online solution that can help you. I chose the latter option and found myself an online store that sells laptop batteries. I found there a list that overwhelmed me : dell batteries, toshiba laptop batteries, hp laptop batteries and many more. And I found what I needed extremely fast.

By the end of 2008, DELL will align it’s line of production so that their products become environmental friendly by becoming carbon neutral. This is a good trend that most producers are staring to follow and it’s a good thing. DELL will be implementing more energy efficient sources during production.
There’s been a time in history of business where it’s more important for organizations of all sizes to partner together to positively impact the Earth that we all share… It’s not enough for Dell to be an environmental leader. We also need to partner with our customers … to dramatically improve our own customers’ environmental impacts.

Panasonic recently announced an improved new series of tough laptops will become available. Panasonic have taken the decision to impose themselves as the best manufacturer in the tough laptops section. According to them, the 4 models in the series will be based on the Intel’s Santa Rosa platform that brings a good combination of a processor, chipset and wireless adapter together. They will also have1GB of RAM, a 80GB HardDisk and 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN. Unfortunately no 802.11n were added to the list of improvements.

This new line is said to be able to stand a 76 centimeters drop, which is pretty much the standard height of a desk. This claim was tested at a press conference where the Panasonic representatives repeatedly droped one of their models several time to demonstrate this feature. Apparently nothing happened to the laptop as it kept working perfectly. Another thing that they added was a water drain in the keyboard that can handle about 200 milliliters of water and redirect it to a drain hole in the base. This feature also looks to be working great.
These models will become available around late November and will have a price range of $2700 - $3500.
